Before For Arrows Learning, Yvonne was the Student Support Administrator at a virtual charter school of over 1900 students, powered by Stride K12. During her time in this position, she managed and created systems and initiatives for a team of innovative professionals. The team focused on increasing parental involvement, student buy-in, truancy prevention and academic success. During her tenure, school truancy fell to less than 1% consistently and the school’s parental engagement rose to one of the highest in the company nationwide.
Yvonne has been an educator for over a decade, beginning as a middle school math teacher and continuing to teach math courses for grades 6th-12th. As a teacher, Yvonne was selected as Teacher of the Year for two consecutive years at two different schools on the basis of her aptitude for engaging parents and inspiring students. Moreover, Yvonne has had experience as a homeschool teacher and learning coach.
Yvonne holds a Masters of Natural Science degree with a concentration in Math Education from Louisiana State University. She enjoys writing, watching documentaries, and spending time with her family, especially her husband and four children.
Yvonne has played an integral role in professional development for educators. She has partnered with the Louisiana Department of Education and the company Core Advancement to provide professional development; in addition to multiple professional developments for teachers, administrators, district leaders, and parents while serving as the Student Support Administrator.
